A lot of home businesses owners focus on face-to-face selling, which can be very effective, but extremely time consuming. For the same time
you spend giving someone a 20 minute spiel about your products, you
could spend that time writing up some highly-effective promotional
materials that can be used over and over again to sell your product to
countless people. Instead of selling to one person at a time, you can
sell to plenty with the same amount of work.
That's what copywriting can do for you. If you're not familiar with the
term copywriting, it refers to the words you use to create your various
sales messages and promotional tools. Copywriting can be used on
everything from your business cards to flyers to brochures to websites.
The problem is, many home business owners don't understand the power
copywriting can have in generating more sales for their businesses.
They throw together a business card or website and then wonder why
nobody follows up with them. Effective copywriting urges your potential
customers to take action on your sales messages. If you use
well-crafted copy in your business, you're likely going to be ahead of
much of your competition.
Here Are Some Starter Copywriting Tips:
1. Understand your target market - The more deeply you understand who
you are writing to, the more effective your copy will be.
2. Understand your product - Understand what is unique about your
product and why it would appeal to your target market.
3. Focus on benefits - The features of your product are important, but
it's the benefits that will sell your products. For example, you may
sell an aromatherapy candle in a particular scent and that scent is
known to reduce stress. The scent is the feature and the benefit is
stress-reduction. People want to know the scent, but they really want
to know what they're going to get out of using the candle.
4. Use simple language - Avoid using big words or long, complicated
sentences and paragraphs. Respect the fact that the average person's
reading level is likely lower than yours and make it easy for them to
get your message.
5. Focus on your reader - When we write about our business or products,
we tend to focus on ourselves. Instead of using a lot of "we"
statements, turn it around and speak to your audience. For example:
Instead of saying, "We value customer service," say, "Your customer
satisfaction is guaranteed."
6. Prove your claims - Back up claims with real and detailed
testimonials, research facts, etc. The more believable your copy is,
the more likely you are to clinch the sale.

Article Writing: Can It Help My Direct Sales Business?
| Very often, people in Direct Sales don’t realize they can benefit from the same methods of internet marketing that other online businesses use. Writing and submitting articles is one of those methods of marketing that is extremely effective for Direct Sales businesses. If you’re unfamiliar with the way article marketing works, basically, you write and give away helpful, informative articles. Why would you work so hard and give away your information? Look at the bottom of this article. There you’ll see my name and a brief bit of information about what I do. I didn’t pay for that advertising. It’s free. So, how does it work? You write an article about a topic that you are interested in – usually one that relates in some way to your business. If you sell makeup, there’s no point in writing about forest fires. So, show your expertise and share your love of what you do in a brief article. Then you’ll want to find article directories that will accept your article. You’ll submit your articles to the directories, including your author bio and a link to your website. Website publishers, blog owners, and ezine publishers will search the directories and find interesting articles to share with their readers. When they use one of your articles, they’ll include your author bio at the end with a clickable link to your website. Voila. You just scored some free traffic. As long as your company allows you to link to your website, (and I realize that some don’t) – you can use article writing to grow your customer list and your team. If your company does not allow links to your website, you may be able to set up a lead generation page to get people’s information. Or you can send them to a newsletter sign up page where you can get them on a list where you may talk more freely about your products in your newsletter. Just be sure to check with your company policies and procedures before investing too much time and energy into writing articles. Now get writing! |

A Santa Letter Business is a Great Business For Both Seasonal or Year Round
If you like spreading Holiday joy and the mere thought of making a child smile and their eyes light up with a personalized Santa letter then this could be the perfect business for you. And what a fun one at that! A Santa Letter Business can be something that you do only around the Holidays to bring a little extra cash in or it can be a year round business. Whether you decide to do it only around the Holidays or year round it can be profitable if you know what you are doing.
Of course running a business takes hard work too. You’ll need to be prepared for the Holiday season and the orders that will come in. You will need to make sure that you are stocked up on postage, leave yourself enough time to get the letters mailed so that they reach their destination on time. Remember these letters are coming from the North Pole after all ;-)
First before you start thinking about taking orders for the letters you need to think about the business aspect of things. You will need to appear as professional as possible and follow some basic business principles like having a business checking account. It’s a good idea to have a website to promote your business too. These are all things you will need to think about.
Maybe the thought of doing this year round has you questioning how that’s possible. After all Santa letters are only going to be in ‘season’ for a few short months. Believe it or not there are many options for this business.

Is a Greeting Card Business For Me
Did you know that the greeting card industry is a 7.5 billion dollar per year business in the United States alone (it is also estimated that American families purchase an average of 35 greeting cards each year and 80% of these purchases are made by women)? That's an awful lot of purchasing going on! That just goes to show that if you have ever wondered if you could have your own business selling greeting cards there's definitely room for you. It's a matter of finding a specific target market or niche to sell to.
How do I know if a greeting card business is right for me or not?
Do you enjoy bringing a smile to someone's face? Do you have a personality that draws you to people and you’re able to make connections with them easily? Are you a great writer? Do you like designing artistic things?
If you answered yes to those questions then having your own greeting card business would be perfect. But maybe you aren’t a great writer or just don’t enjoy it. Or you aren’t such a great artist. That’s ok too. There are still opportunities for you.
The biggest key to having a successful greeting card business is your uniqueness. You have to stand apart from the rest of the designers out there. That will be easier to do if you aren’t trying to be something to everybody. You need to focus in on a specific niche of people that you want to reach with your cards. This is also where your writing and art work (if you have those skills) comes into play. This will definitely provide you with a leg up over the rest of your competition. There are always going to be people that are looking for more personalized greeting cards than just something ‘generic’ they can pick up at a local store.
So now you might be thinking well ok I don’t have writing skills that I would want to put to use to try to write my own greeting cards. And I’m not an artist but I still love the idea of being able to have my own greeting card business and being a part of the joy people have when it comes to receiving cards. That’s where joining a company like sendoutcards.com would benefit you.
There are many things to learn about having your own greeting card business before taking the plunge. Grab your copy of Mom’s Talk Biz Guide to Starting Your Own Greeting Card Business. The guide will provide you with all the information you need to get started and even gives you some business tips like time management, how you can save time by hiring contractors and advertising ideas just to name a few!
